Despite the conflict between Philippines and HK regarding the hostage taking happened on 2010 at Manila wherein 8 Hongkongers died and 7 injuired, HK decided to inject $ 5.16 M in the disaster fund for the use of the government in times of calamities. According to Carrie Lim, HK would really want to provide support for the victims which is affected largely by typhoon Haiyan.
However, President Aquino insisted that they need not give any formal apology because the crime was done by hostage takers.
In a statement, HK leader Leung Chun Ying said that he will take necessary actions if he does not see concrete steps to resolve the issue within a month.
HK government plans to take necessary action which includes cancellation of VISA-Free-Arrangements and some trade sanctions. Rumors also said that Filipino workers/maid will be forced to return in the Philippines.
